humberto ramírez (guadalajara, méxico, 1982) lives and works in guadalajara. his work has been exhibited across mexico and internationally in paris, venice, miami, and fresno. he was selected for the xvii and xv editions of the rufino tamayo painting biennial (2016 and 2012), and the xii femsa biennial (2016). he received the jóvenes creadores grant from pecda jalisco (2012–2013) and from fonca (2010–2011). his recent work explores themes that, in his own words, modulate human behavior from a primitive distance. the relationship between man and nature, survival, and play are recurring subjects through which his work engages with notions of domination, violence, and transcendence — all tied to an awareness of the certainty of mortality.
